- Start at Recuva asks which file types should be restored:
Pictures, music, documents, video, compressed, e-mail, Other
- The next question is the file location:
Search the entire computer, removable drives, My Documents, Recycle Bin, in a certain place
Last but not least, the deep scan can be enabled: takes longer to find your data but the probability of a successful recovery increases.

The other machine should still be able to read and write the dead disk.Once you've salvaged everything you want (check this at least three times!), you can put the disk back in your machine and do the recovery. Good luck.
